Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
A novel
By Gabrielle Zevin
Narrated by: Jennifer Kim & Julian Cihi
Length: 13 hours 51 minutes
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
“Gabrielle Zevin's Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is beautiful in every way. The character dynamics, the narrative structure, and even the cover design made me fall in love with this book. The story takes place over three decades and follows the friendship between Sam and Sadie. While it is told mostly linear, there are still several points where the reader gets a glimpse into the future that serves as a reminder of the ever changing nature of our relationships. I listened to this as an audiobook and one thing that stood out to me (about the audio production specifically) was the narrator change for Marx's POV. This shift made Part VII even more emotional as a turning point in the novel. It was a great choice. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is a testament to the ebb and flow of our lives. All we can do is try to navigate the storm together. ”

Remarkably Bright Creatures
A Novel
By Shelby Van Pelt
Narrated by: Marin Ireland & Michael Urie
Length: 11 hours 16 minutes
If you enjoyed Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, then you’ll love Remarkably Bright Creatures.
“I did not want this book to end! It's the latest book Iโve fallen 'deep' for โ and moved right into my instant recommendation booklist. A very particular septuagenarian keeps busy at her aquarium job, tidying up while keeping to herself โ like her equally senior and solitary octopod acquaintance (who provides us with his own narration). I just loved this story that's full of heart, multiple even. Narrator Marin Ireland, who is always masterful in her vocal performance, is matched by Michael Urie who voices the octopus with perfect aplomb and a touch of cephalopodic sass. A delight to the ears.”

The Covenant of Water
By Abraham Verghese
Narrated by: Abraham Verghese
Length: 31 hours 16 minutes
If you enjoyed Cutting for Stone, then you’ll love The Covenant of Water.
“Seven decades (in book time!) and more than 700 pages later, I closed The Covenant of Water, the story of a family haunted by drownings. Abraham Verghese has written a spellbinding novel set in a Christian community in India. Verghese draws, as he did in the other two books, on his vast knowledge of medicine, and exhibits his ability to delve deep into character and setting. In the past six months, I have left two novels of more than 500 pages unfinished, but I read this one to the very end, moved by the quest of three generations of a family trying to save themselves from destiny and solve the mystery of their affliction. This book is a stunner, and it is sure to be high on the list when awards are given out this year. ”

Yellowface
A Novel
By R. F. Kuang
Narrated by: Helen Laser
Length: 8 hours 38 minutes
Yellowface
“I hated every character in this book but could not put it down. It was so compelling and truly made you think about how awful people can be. The main character basically murdered her friend and stole her manuscript. Wanting the celebrity that her friend afforded, she is overwhelmed with the publishing world. Such great storytelling”

Hello Beautiful (Oprah's Book Club)
A Novel
By Ann Napolitano

Length: 15 hours 6 minutes
Hello Beautiful (Oprah's Book Club)
“As a bookseller, itโs common to read through books at a breakneck pace; always on to the next tale, the next genre, the next page-turner. When you come a cross a book so achingly beautiful as Hello Beautiful...time slows. Or, you wish it would. I wanted to spend YEARS within this story. I adored the complexity AND simplicity of the sistersโ relationships with each other. Reading Hello Beautiful was like spending time with the friend who โknew me whenโฆโ and the sister who knew me always. This book is the very definition of a GEM. ”

Daisy Jones & The Six (TV Tie-in Edition)
A Novel
By Taylor Jenkins Reid
Narrated by: Jennifer Beals, Benjamin Bratt, Judy Greer & Pablo Schreiber
Length: 9 hours 3 minutes
Daisy Jones & The Six (TV Tie-in Edition)
“Written in interviews given by various members of the band Daisy Jones & The Six and those they encountered, the novel is an engrossing look at a fictional band in 1970s Los Angeles. It reads like a rock memoir, so much so that you often forget they were not a real band. I highly recommend listening to this one on audio from Libro.fm: it's read by a full cast that really brings the whole things to life. ”

The Dutch House
A Novel
By Ann Patchett
Narrated by: Tom Hanks
Length: 9 hours 52 minutes
The Dutch House
“This is a wonderful story - well written, excellent character development, and interesting. A story of redemption for siblings. This novel hits an emotional chord on many levels - personal choice, the importance of being present in your everyday life, and letting others make life choices for you instead of you making them for yourself. The novel reinforces the importance of being engaged throughout our life not sleepwalking through it because that is easier. The Dutch House makes one look at your own life and wonders why you made the choices you did and how things could be drastically different with just a small twist of fate.”

A Novel
By Geraldine Brooks
Narrated by: James Fouhey, Lisa Flanagan, Graham Halstead, Katherine Littrell & Michael Obiora
Length: 14 hours 5 minutes
Horse
“This book centers on Lexington, often considered the greatest horse in history. But this book is much more than the story of a horse. Brooks writes of slavery, the Civil War, academia, art and publishing, love and loyalty, and racism in history and today. I loved the bond between Jarret, an enslaved boy, and Lexington. I will be thinking of this book for quite some time.”

Circe
By Madeline Miller
Narrated by: Perdita Weeks
Length: 12 hours 8 minutes
Circe
“A bold retelling of the Circe episode from Homer's Odyssey that not only captures the interlocking pieces of Greek mythology, but also gives each god, titan, and Grecian a pulsing complexity. Both Circe the book and the character are quiet, sensual and--at times--freewheeling, adventurous, and devastating. Perdita Week's performance here is multi-layered and captivating. The voices she chooses to portray each character captures the unfolding drama and humor beautify.”

Pineapple Street
A Novel
By Jenny Jackson
Narrated by: Marin Ireland
Length: 8 hours 32 minutes
Pineapple Street
“Funny and full of heart, this book follows three women in an affluent Brooklyn Heights family. While the Stocktons have extreme privilege, author Jenny Jackson has somehow made them relatable, and I found myself rooting for their happiness. Against the backdrop of an opulent home, the novel poses important questions about how wealth shapes a person, the responsibilities that should come with it, what belonging means, and the love of family, despite everything. ”

The Vanishing Half
A Novel
By Brit Bennett
Narrated by: Shayna Small
Length: 11 hours 33 minutes
The Vanishing Half
“This is a beautifully written, stunning, and scandalous story about two identical black twin girls, one who runs away from home at age 16. And then their lives completely shift, as one continues living her life as a Black woman, and the other that tries to pass herself off as white. This novel came at just the right time, in the middle of the Black Lives Matter protests and racial unrest in the United States. Brit Bennett has done a brilliant job with her novel! It is compelling and the audiobook on Libro.fm is exceptional!”

“A great literary mystery, Banvilleโs deeply nuanced protagonist ranks right up there with those of Louise Penny, P. D. James and Donna Leon. It's hard to stop listening, but even when I was forced to, I couldnโt wait to get back to it. Chain Gang All Stars

Narrated by: Shayna Small, Aaron Goodson, Michael Crouch & Lee Osorio
Length: 13 hours 38 minutes
Chain Gang All Stars
“Sometimes I read a book so profound, and yet so profoundly disturbing, that I donโt know whether to beg everyone to read it or caution them not to. Chain-Gang All Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah is a novel, but I found myself checking again and again to see what was factual and what was fiction, and much of the commentary on the prison system is based on fact. If you like books that make you think about hard things, that shake up your complacency, preorder this one. And find a friend to read it with you. Narrated by: Julia Whelan, Brian Nishii, Keisuke Hoashi, MacLeod Andrews, Jeanne Sakata, Greg Watanabe, Kurt Kanazawa, Matthew Bridges, Kotaro Watanabe, Brianna Ishibashi, Joe Knezevich, Micky Shiloah, Stephanie Komure & Jason Culp
Length: 9 hours 20 minutes
If you enjoyed Once Upon a River, then you’ll love How High We Go in the Dark.
“Interlinked short stories comprise this novel in the same way gears and levers make an astronomical clock. Many of the stories are heartbreaking, and others seed hope; each has either a narrator in the midst of a journey, or a narrator stuck in one place (literal or figurative) while events explode around them. The two types of characters provide two poles of a perspective; in this book, a plague and emerging environmental catastrophe force the characters to think about what they thought they wanted and what, in the end, they can actually have. The audio producers wisely chose a diverse company of narrators; the book is a sort of Decameron, and the variety of voices helps you keep each story vividly in mind so that you catch all the interconnections. (Reader, keep track of the crystal pendant! Trust the author. It will answer your questions.)”

Mad Honey
A Novel
By Jodi Picoult & Jennifer Finney Boylan
Narrated by: Carrie Coon, Key Taw, Jodi Picoult & Jennifer Finney Boylan
Length: 15 hours 12 minutes
Mad Honey
“This is an incredibly powerful story that I think everyone should read. Told from the perspective of two different characters, who despite being at different stages in their lives, are trying to figure out who they are. It examines the traumas that we experience in life, how we process those (or don't), and how they shape us. It looks at who we know ourselves to be, how we honor that (or don't), and the strength it takes to truly be yourself. The people that read the two different narrators are perfectly cast, and really add to the impact and experience of the story for the listener. I don't think that it is possible to read this book and not come away changed in the best ways. I believe that if everyone read this, the world would be a much more empathetic place.”

The Fifth Season
“The Fifth Season is an amazing, dark, and gripping work that will hook you from the first sentence. I cannot express to you how much this book stunned me. Robin's narration is well paced and engaging. While I wish this was a book for everyone to listen to, it isn't; destruction, trauma, and rage follow the women and girls who tell their stories. This book is about the end of the world, that you actually don't want to stop reading.”

Lone Women
A Novel
By Victor LaValle
Narrated by: Joniece Abbott-Pratt
Length: 9 hours 10 minutes
If you enjoyed The Good House, then you’ll love Lone Women.
“Small historic details and sweeping descriptive vistas place this unusual novel among the most interesting we've read in historical fiction this year. The hell-for-leather plot combined with deeply realized characters make it one of the best, period, and Joniece Abbott-Pratt's unsettlingly calm reading of even the most fantastical elements does the book perfect justice...Good historical fiction will challenge our memories and established stories by showing us more of what happened, to more of the people (including people of color), with more truth about inequality. LaValle, already accomplished in the field, has delivered a genuinely new story that hovers in the realm of parable and races on a thriller's edge. I desperately wish Zora Neale Hurston were here to read it! ”

The City We Became
A Novel
The Great Cities: Book #1
By N. K. Jemisin
Narrated by: Robin Miles
Length: 16 hours 12 minutes
The City We Became
“What did I just listen to and why did I like it so much? Part of falling in love with this book was the listening experience, to be certain. The narration was stellar. The production was on point. But the story... the story itself is sublime. N.K. Jemisin has written a love letter to New York City - but not the one in bright, bold letters on the silver screen - the real city, and the real people who inhabit it and call it home, even if only temporarily. And it was beyond my wildest dreams (and nightmares). The City We Became is so incredibly layered and nuanced - diving into discussions of racism and sexism and the fallacy of good vs evil. I wanted nothing more than to steep in its long chapters, and get to know its boroughs as intimately as Jemisin would allow - not mere stereotypes but fully fleshed and brilliant, blinding avatars. Witty, subversive, imaginative, unbelievable. Get on this wild ride.”

Carrie Soto Is Back
A Novel
By Taylor Jenkins Reid
Narrated by: Stacy Gonzalez, Mary Carillo, Patrick Mcenroe, Rob Simmelkjaer, Brendan Wayne, Max Meyers, Reynaldo Piniella, Vidish Athavale, Tom Bromhead, Heath Miller, Julia Whelan & Sara Arrington
Length: 10 hours 29 minutes
Carrie Soto Is Back
“The word 'Amazing' doesn't begin to describe this book. Carrie Soto is a tennis phenom called 'the next Billie Jean King' by reporters in the 1970's and Taylor Jenkins Reid takes you into the life of a competitive tennis player at the highest levels. You crawl inside her head and see the desire to be the BEST and win at any costs - even if it means sacrificing relationships to do so. This audiobook is amazing because not only does Stacy Gonzalez do a brilliant job, but because Mary Carillo, Patrick McEnroe and more lend their voices to the story - so you get the feeling that you're listening to actual segments on ESPN. You quickly forget that you're listening to fiction and you feel like you're getting the autobiography of a female tennis player - complete with men who make comments about how women's tennis is 'not as difficult as the men's game.' I loved every minute of this audiobook and I already know it's going to be on my Books of the Year list for 2022. ”

Length: 16 hours 38 minutes
The Lincoln Highway
“Like so many other Amor Towles fans, Iโve been impatiently awaiting his next novel, so I delved right in and didnโt totally emerge until a few days later! As always with his work, itโs immersively readable and his word crafting is such a pleasure. Whatโs happening in the charactersโ lives is chaotic and unsettled, but Towlesโ writing is as crisp and precise as ever. I was immediately impressed with how distinctive and age/time-appropriate each of the charactersโ voices is--right from the start. Most of the characters are young people, kids really, and their choices and actions are life-altering and often heartbreaking. But thereโs lots of humor and amusement as well in following their physical, emotional, and moral journeys. A delightful and satisfying read. ”

Everything in the world is totally normal, but if you sit in a specific seat in a specific cafe in Tokyo, you can travel back in time. Nicole Lewis's reading is a dazzling feat: expertly code-switching between the voice Emira uses with her friends, to the voice she uses with her boss, Alix, to the voice her boss's suburban black friend, Tamara, uses with Alix, to the voice Tamara uses with Emira. “A heartfelt and occasionally hilarious account of life and work at an independent bookstore through the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. While the reflections on family and pandemic life are cathartic, this book is also about identity and how our history and present shape it. Through encounters with the ghost of a troublesome lifelong customer, and the conversations that ensue, Erdrich masterfully weaves an exploration of community, identity, and family that is guaranteed to entertain.”

“A father's gentle nature, a mother's sacrifice, a daughter's trust, and a son's determination are the cornerstones of this grand, multilayered saga. Pachinko follows one family through an ever-changing cultural landscape, from 1910 Korea to 1989 Japan. As the bonds of family are put to the test in the harsh realities of their world, Sunja and those she holds dear manage to carve themselves a place to call home with hard work, self sacrifice, and a little kimchi. Through it all is a message about love, faith, and the deep-rooted bonds of family. Min Jin Lee gives us a phenomenal story about one family's struggle that resonates with us today. It will take hold of you and not let go!”
