“Sci-fi fans will love this book and folks who love Star Trek will find it quite illuminating! It's filled with amazing detail and has been painstakingly researched. Journalist author Ryan Britt utilized years of interviews with important players in the franchise - leveraging his super fan status to procure intimate insights into the Trekkie and Trekker phenomenon. His connection to the stars and thoughtful analysis of the reasons for the success and longevity of Star Trek explains the...”Trish • Downtown Book & Sound
“If I was born in the 1920's I would have fallen in love with this man and that is not even a question. Lenny Bruce was the bad boy of comedy. He smoked, cursed, and drank. This book shows all of this perfectly. From how he met his wife, him getting arrested for libel, and how he influenced all of American comedy and entertainment law. It is one of the funniest and most poignant books that I have ever read, and I still catch myself quoting the jokes. Also, Mr. Bruce if you ever decide to come...”Ruthie • Underground Books
“I’m not very shy about Bojack Horseman being my favorite TV show. So when I found out the show runner had a book, I had to get it. It did not disappoint! These are surreal and humorous short stories that pack a lot of punch. My personal favorite stories from the collection are A Most Blessed and Auspicious Occasion, about a young couple planning a satanic ritualistic wedding, and Up-and-Comers, about a group of superheroes that can only activate their powers when drunk. Much like Bojack...”Ruthie • Underground Books
“Such a hypnotizing, atmospheric novel! I loved how the pieces of the narrator's life slowly add up one by one, and how the wilderness is depicted as both menacing and somehow comforting at the same time. Beautifully written and narrated, I highly recommend it! ”Marie • Emma's Bookshop
“A ragtag bunch of weirdos - an old witch hunter, a couple of cowboys, a widowed schoolteacher, and a child who doesn't speak - sets out to collect the bounty on a witch's head. Along the way, they encounter friends and enemies both natural and supernatural. The witch herself doesn't fit neatly into either category... This story meanders in the best way, roping in too many characters to count and disposing of them as needed. It is often disturbing, occasionally provokes a laugh, and tends...”Kaley • Quail Ridge Books
“Written and read by two medical doctors, one of whom is also a doctor of economics, Random Acts of Medicine is a vast exploration of how biases, random events, and chance impact medical outcomes. Could a large marathon race impact area residents experiencing heart attacks? Do vaccination rates in children depend on where their birthdays fall in the year? Why might a planned vaginal birth switch to C-section, despite no change in the patient? There are dozens and dozens of interesting natural...”Mary • Raven Book Store
