Split Rock Books
Cold Spring, NY
Split Rock Books was founded in 2018 by Heidi and Michael Bender, a married couple. After over 10 years working as booksellers (and in Michael's case, as a librarian too!) in a variety of stores in New York City and beyond, they moved up to Cold Spring to open up their own store. Split Rock carries a curated selection of new books with a focus on literary fiction and non-fiction, small presses, local interest and children's books. We're also able to order most books by request. We host a variety of children's and family programming, book clubs, readings, signings and discussions. We are located steps from the Cold Spring train station, which is just over an hour from New York City. Hope to see you soon!
Nonfiction that will keep you rapt.

“An epic start to a well-loved fantasy series, ACOTAR (as it is affectionately known amongst its fans) brings us into a world of High Fae, and a seemingly insignificant human just trying to get by. A fantastic read. ”Melanie • Devonport Bookshop
“Ali Hazelwood never disappoints, and her first YA novel is no different. I cannot recommend this book enough to romance readers of all ages! Mallory is forced back into the chess world despite her past, and meets Nolan, the current world chess champion. Tension, pining, angst, and swoon-worthy. ”Chloe • Quail Ridge Books
“Mix Signals gives Gilmore Girls vibes with its small town setting, nosey side-characters and a bakery with a reoccurring regular main character. Caleb wants to learn what he’s doing wrong in the dating world, and Layla wants to learn how she should be treated... so they make an agreement. ”Chloe • Quail Ridge Books
“Ashley Poston does an amazing job writing light paranormal romances that will also make you cry. The Seven Year Slip made me unexplainably happy, extremely sad and I couldn’t put it down. With a time-traveling apartment, a second chance romance trope, a New York setting and how someone deals with grief this book couldn’t get any better. ”Chloe • Quail Ridge Books
“A whip-smart little girl who collects words and is deemed advanced at school, Dolly sets out on an adventure of a lifetime with her father and her one million percent best friend Clemesta, (who looks like a plastic horse but is her actual twin because they both have chestnut hair and are fluent in telepathy and can read each other’s thoughts). Dolly’s stomach flutters and she is one hundred percent excited when her dad scoops her up from the front porch and buckles her into the back seat....”Belinda • Quail Ridge Books
“This book captures how reading can touch the soul and connect us with others. I was humbled and moved to tears - of both grief and joy - as I rode with Cussy Mary and her mule through the hills and hollows of Appalachia to deliver books to the isolated people of Troublesome Creek. A courier in the Kentucky Library Project in the 1930s, Cussy struggled with the harsh terrain as well as her own unique challenges that come with being among the last of her blue-skinned kind. The Book Woman of...”Belinda • Quail Ridge Books
