The Book Shack was founded by Jo Kassabaum in 1979. She single-handedly ran the business for nearly forty years. In 2016, Jo’s granddaughter (in-law), Kristy Kassabaum, took on The Book Shack, making it a second-generation family-owned business. Their mission is to create an atmosphere that encourages literacy in the community.
