Hooray for Books!

Hooray for Books! is an independently-owned bookstore located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Founded in 2008, we are a specialty children’s bookstore that has expanded to include a well-curated adult section and a popular YA section.

As a favorite neighborhood gathering place, we host two weekly story times that bring in dozens of kids and parents, plus two adult book clubs. We also sponsor five monthly ARC clubs for readers ages 6-18, who write reviews that we post in the store.

We partner with more than 75 schools, from pre-K through 12th grade. Through our Authors-in-Schools Program, we’ve collaborated with publishers to set up author visits ranging from a single school presentation to a two-week, 24-school tour.
