Black Stone Bookstore & Cultural Center is an independent African-American bookstore. We are located in the heart of downtown Ypsilanti, Michigan, just a block away from the Eastern Michigan University College of Business. We opened November 2, 2013, in hopes of bringing awareness to true African-American literature and culture.

We aim to be a place where journalists, writers, professors, students and bona fide lovers of African-American literature & culture will find a spot of solace in the heart. We host author readings, book clubs, poetry nights and children story times.

We sell not only books but also clothing, oils, incense & burners, soaps, jewelry, health & beauty products, CD's, DVD's & much more (in store & online) …and can ship anywhere in the U.S.

Please note that while we specialize in African-American literature, we are connected to the industry’s largest active book inventory with access to 7.5 million titles, so give us a try we may be able to get that book for you.
