“Did this book make me cry? Yes. Did I think it would? No. This audio book is read by the author and knowing that makes it seem extra special. She has a lovely voice and I learned so much. I appreciated the writing style because this is the first book I have read about women and gender nonconforming artists that describes their work in ways I have only heard people describe men's artwork. The attention to detail and the transitions between time periods and cultural periods flowed so well together that the amount of information didn't seem overwhelming. The amount of knowledge in this book astounds me. I think this should be required reading to be honest. Katy Hessel's website is also a great resource. She has all the art shows on her website so that you can look at them while the book is being read. Also I don't think you have to like art or history to like and enjoy this book.”
