Welcome to the dazzling new world of SuperAging, where everything you’ve been taught about aging is challenged. Getting older does not need to mean the end of accomplishment and growth. For SuperAgers, the period after age sixty-five can be one of the most productive and fulfilling times of life.
SuperAging is already a reality for millions. But the science, business, and culture of aging have changed at such a rapid pace that they can be hard to keep up with. That’s where authors David Cravit and Larry Wolf can help. They’ve broken SuperAging down into seven simple components—Attitude, Awareness, Activity, Autonomy, Achievement, Attachment, and Avoidance—and in this groundbreaking book, they show how you can put these forces to work in your own life. From taking control of your health and health care to revolutionary ways of thinking about retirement, money, housing, and even relationships, you’ll discover how to make your seventies, eighties, nineties, and beyond some of the best years of your life. Why settle for getting old when you can thrive?
David Cravit has an established profile and track record in reporting on aging and related issues. He is the author of two previous books: The New Old, which discusses how the baby boomers reinvented aging, and Beyond Age Rage, which examines the so-called war of the generations. He is a vice president at ZoomerMedia, the only media company in Canada specializing in the "older" market, and also chief membership officer and chief marketing officer of CARP (Canada's equivalent to AARP). He appears frequently on radio and television as a respected commentator on the new trends and developments driving the emergence of SuperAging.
Larry Wolf's expertise is in identifying important trends and creating opportunities to capitalize on them. He has advised a number of Fortune 500 companies and governments on their branding and communications strategies. Larry founded and developed the Wolf Group from a two-person consultancy into a sizable international advertising agency with offices in seven cities in the United States and Canada. His company helped successfully create and launch many new brands. Most recently, Larry identified a number of trends precipitated by increasing longevity and made use of an unrealized opportunity to unify and brand the key elements that contribute to successful

“A timely read and a great handbook for a growing societal group seeking to delay their physical decline.”—Library Journal
“To meet the challenge of population, we do not need a drug—we need a cultural revolution, and this book provides an excellent manifesto for that revolution. We need a new language, a new culture, and a new social reality in which living longer is seen by both individuals and society as an opportunity and a cause for celebration.” —Sir Muir Gray, former chief knowledge officer of the National Health Service (UK)
“We live in a society that treats our seniors as if they are fragile and should be protected behind glass. This book puts the lie to that. I read it. I was a superager; now I’m going to be a SuperAger.” —Marshall Cohen, former deputy minister of finance, Government of Canada
“Of the many books on aging, this is one of the most coherent and accessible, sharing insights from lived experience, research, and therapy that will provide the reader with a wealth of information, a healthy game plan, and an optimistic worldview. It approaches successful aging not as a one-size-fits-all enterprise but rather in sync with a precision medicine type of approach that recognizes heterogeneous paths to continued life satisfaction and challenges the reader to discover theirs.” —Marsha E. Bates, PhD, Distinguished Professor and Vice Chair of Research, Rutgers University–New Brunswick
“SuperAging is one of the most powerful forces of disruption today. The possibility of ‘getting older without getting old’ will transform every aspect of our society. This book is your essential guide to what’s happening, why it matters, and how to apply it to your own life.” —Jim Harris, author of Blindsided and The Learning Paradox
“Informative, engaging, and encouraging, this book offers more detailed information and resources to the reader than others I’ve read on aging. As a SuperAger myself, who did not retire until age 75, I found the information here to be both useful and exciting as I look forward to the next 20 years of my life! I’ve recommended this to my friends and family.” —Karen Goldstein, MBA, PhD, former associate dean, School of Arts and Sciences, University of Pennsylvania
“Super Aging moves super fast and never gets old! A riveting ride to a revolutionary new reality of aging setting the pillars to embrace for gracefully getting older while shaping a sharp vision of an extended future of sustained good health, well-being and accomplishment towards a destination of true happiness with contentment.” —Terrence P. O’Brien, MD, Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine
“In a landscape that is cluttered with fads and gimmicks, SuperAging is the quintessential guide to rescue you from the perils of poor health and age-related decline.” —William Simmons, MD, Memorial Healthcare System
“This magnificent book is an essential guide for anyone wanting to continue to thrive at any age. It goes well beyond simply living longer and explores how those extra years can become amazingly creative and productive so that aging is not about simply ‘surviving’ longer but rather thriving longer.” —Lisa da Rocha, Executive Coach and expert on Neuro-Transformational leadership
“SuperAging is a compelling guidebook to getting the most out of life as we age. Many readers will have 20 or 30 years ahead after reaching age 65. By drawing on advancements in many fields, the authors persuasively illustrate exciting new opportunities for living those bonus years with vigor. The book deftly addresses seven pillars of aging to help us reimagine and then actualize our prospects for a relevant and optimistic future.” —Brent Green, author of Generation Reinvention
