The New Negro

Alain Locke (1886-1954) was an African American writer, philosopher, educator, and patron of the arts. Considered a prominent intellectual of his day, he was a leader and supporter of the Harlem Renaissance and the mentor of many influential African American writers and thinkers, including Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston.

York Whitaker began her acting training at the age of eleven as a student at Ronald Edmonds Learning Center's Academy of Performing Arts. She later studied at the world-renowned Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

Robin Eller is an accomplished actress, dance educator, and voice artist who has appeared on stage and television and in films and commercials. The narrator of several audiobooks, she speaks fluent Italian and has performed with prominent musicians, including James Brown, with whom she traveled the world as a dancer.

Charon Normand-Widmer is an anthropologist with a background in biology. When not reading textbooks for fun, she likes to spend her time hiking in the woods or dancing.

Ron Butler is a Los Angeles based actor who works regularly as a commercial and animation voiceover artist and an audiobook narrator. A member of the Atlantic Theater Company, he has over a hundred film and television credits to his name and won an Independent Filmmaker Project Award for his work in the HBO film Everyday People.

J.D. Jackson is a classically trained actor, a theater professor, an aspiring stage director, and an award-winning audiobook narrator. His television and film credits include roles on House, ER, Law & Order, Hack, Sherrybaby, Diary of a City Priest, and Lucky Number Slevin. The recipient of several audiobook awards for narration and an Odyssey Honor for G. Neri's Ghetto Cowboy, he was named one of AudioFile's Best Voices of the Year for 2012 and 2013.

Sean Crisden is a multitalented actor who has narrated audiobooks in almost every genre, from science fiction to romance. He has also voiced characters in numerous video games, such as the award-winning ShadowGun, and appeared in many commercials and films, including The Last Airbender. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sean now resides in Phoenix, Arizona.

Cary Hite is an experienced actor and audiobook narrator who has had the pleasure of working with a number of publishing houses. An Earphones award-winner, he currently resides in New York City.

Bill Andrew Quinn has been narrating audiobooks for a myriad of publishers since 1992. A nationally recognized voice actor, he has done campaigns for Coke Zero, ESPN, and Totino’s while also conducting music and informational research for his own radio show. He currently resides in the New York City area, where he enjoys sampling craft beer and watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals play on the MLB Network.

Leon Nixon is a Los Angeles based voice actor who has narrated audiobook titles in a wide range of genres, including crime, mystery, science fiction, romance, and nonfiction. Classically trained as an actor and improviser, he can also be found performing on stage.

Earl Sewell is a writer, instructor, podcaster, and audiobook narrator who has lent his talents to voiceover, eLearning, animation, and corporate narration. He enjoys reading and participating in Ironman Triathlons.

Rhett Samuel Price is a skilled voiceover artist and audiobook narrator who began using his voice to sing as a child. A former traffic reporter for a radio station in Los Angeles, he went on to become an on-air television personality and has now lent his voice to multiple corporations and commercials, as well as audiobooks.

Lynch Travis is an in-demand narrator with a background in film and stage acting.

Dez Walker is an experienced audiobook narrator. He discovered musical theater later in his life and went on to take up acting, voiceover work, and narration. He has contributed to projects that have been seen and heard all over the country. He was born and raised in Detroit.

Patryce Williams is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York City and is a member of the Actors Equity Association.

Kevin R. Free is an actor, writer, director, and producer whose work has been developed both regionally and in NYC. He is an accomplished voice actor, having created voices for commercials and, most notably, the voice of Kevin for the popular podcast Welcome to Night Vale.
