Summary

Expectation Corner is a beautiful allegory written to demonstrate what it can look like to live in God’s kingdom and to take full advantage of His promises.  Adam, the protagonist and a resident of Redeemed Land, lives a life of complete independence and isolation, as he copes with the issues in his life without ever asking for the landlord’s help.  His pitiful and destitute home continues to worsen the quality of his life, and it is entirely by active choice.  All of Adam’s neighbors are able to enjoy a rich and joyful life, with their needs met and their worries eased by the good and loving landlord.  Emily Steele Elliott eloquently depicts the beauty of relying on God and the necessity of active and expectant faith.  This short story is not only an encouragement to pray and seek God’s help and guidance, but is also a reminder of His faithfulness and deep love for His children.
