Baker Street Mice — Beware! So far the twins are safe. They’ll stay that way if you do what we say. We’ve decided to make your Baker Street cellar the headquarters for our gang. Everybody must be out in 48 hours. It’s Basil’s job to move you all out, just the way he moved you in. Better make it fast! And leave the furniture — we need it. This is the only warning you’ll get. And listen — if you don’t follow our orders, you’ll never set eyes on those twins again!
Basil and the Cave of Cats
The Sherlock Holmes of the mouse world solves another thrilling case! Basil the mouse detective sets off on a journey to solve one of the greatest mysteries of mousedom: Do miniature cats exist? Leading mouse scientists aren’t certain, but they believe answers can be found in the Far East. Thus begins the story of an unusual quest. As Basil sets sail for the Far East — and the lost island of Kataarh — danger stalks him at every turn. Our hero is determined to unravel the mystery of these mini-cats and their mouse king!
Basil in Mexico
Basil of Baker Street continues his brilliant detective career as he solves three tough cases! "The Case of the Counterfeit Cheese”: in which mousedom is terrified as mice crack their teeth on phony cheese bits made of concrete. “The Theft of the Mousa Lisa”: in which Basil ferrets out the truth behind the strange theft of Mexico’s beloved masterpiece. “The Disappearance of Dr. Dawson”: in which — horror of horrors! — Basil’s faithful friend is mousenapped. In all these daring adventures, Basil proves himself to be a true disciple of his hero, Sherlock Holmes!
Basil in the Wild West
Tom’s eyes bored into Basil’s. “I admire and respect you as a brilliant detective, but I must speak frankly. Your chances of capturing J.J. are practically zero. The obstacles are too many and too great. In my opinion, Basil, you’re on an impossible mission!”
Eve Titus (1908-2002) was the author of many children’s books, including those about the French cheese-tasting mouse Anatole. Of Basil of Baker Street, Adrian M. Conan Doyle wrote to the author, “It is simply a wonderful creation, and I can assure you that my father would have revelled in every page.” The book was also made into a Disney movie, The Great Mouse Detective, in 1986. Numerous Sherlockian collectors prize the Basil mysteries, which include Basil of Baker Street, Basil and the Cave of Cats (originally published as Basil and the Pygmy Cats), Basil in Mexico, Basil in the Wild West, and Basil and the Lost Colony.
