"A film-ready rom-com about finding love when you least expect it."--Elle

"The delightful, sexy, queer rom-com of the summer . . . [with] all the makings of a Nora Ephron classic." --Vogue

*One of NPR's Best Books of 2018*
*One of Washington Post's 50 Notable Works of Fiction in 2018*

From the acclaimed author of The Assistants comes another gutsy book about two women who find their lives turned upside down by their unexpected chemistry.

When it comes to Cassidy, Katie can't think straight.

Katie Daniels, a twenty-eight-year-old Kentucky transplant with a strong set of traditional values, has just been dumped by her fiancรฉ when she finds herself seated across a negotiating table from native New Yorker Cassidy Price, a sexy, self-assured woman wearing a man's suit. At first neither of them knows what to make of the other, but soon their undeniable connection will bring into question everything each of them thought they knew about sex and love.

When Katie Met Cassidy is a romantic comedy about gender and sexuality, and the importance of figuring out who we are in order to go after what we truly want. It's also a portrait of a high-drama subculture where barrooms may as well be bedrooms, and loyal friends fill in the spaces absent families leave behind. Katie's glimpse into this wild yet fiercely tightknit community begins to alter not only how she sees the larger world, but also where exactly she fits in.

Camille Perri is the author of The Assistants and When Katie Met Cassidy. She has worked as a books editor for Cosmopolitan and Esquire. She has also been a ghostwriter of young adult novels and a reference librarian. She holds a bachelor of arts degree from New York University, where she majored in English and gender and sexuality studies, and a masters of library science degree from Queens College. Perri lives in Brooklyn with her partner.

Reviews

“Love comes when we least expect it. . . [When Katie Met Cassidy is] a testament to that and a celebration of sexuality and female power.” —Entertainment Weekly

“My favorite romantic book of recent memory.” —Emma Straub, New York Times bestselling author of Modern Lovers

“A tender tale of finding yourself and trusting unexpected impulses.” —Cosmopolitan

“As timeless, warm, and funny as When Harry Met Sally, with the same irresistible Big Apple backdrop and a modern tribe of bar-hopping friends who become as close as family. Perri’s latest will inspire you to go after what you want and hold on to what you already have with both hands.”—Elisabeth Egan, Glamour

“A film-ready rom-com about finding love when you least expect it (as deliciously fun as her last novel, The Assistants).”—Elle

“The delightful, sexy, queer rom-com novel of the summer… When Katie Met Cassidy cements what Call Me by Your Name started (at least for mass audiences): One doesn’t have to be queer to fall in love [with] a queer love story... [When Katie Met Cassidy] has all the makings of a Garry Marshall or Nora Ephron classic.” — Vogue

"Set against the twinkling backdrop of New York City with an unforgettable cast of queer supporting characters, this vibrant novel feels like it’s just waiting for a big-screen adaptation."—Buzzfeed

“Will have you on your toes. Katie is a 20-something from Kentucky who gets dumped by her fiance...and finds herself into Cassidy, her new co-worker in NYC." —TheSkimm

"Not only is Perri's book super sexy—it's also a welcome subversion of the (so far) overwhelmingly straight rom-com genre." —Refinery29

“A smart, sexy read for your beach bag that will leave you looking at sex and love in a completely different way.”—PopSugar

“Perri’s lively and funny voice brings a fresh perspective to that familiar and beloved story of a single girl finding love in the big city… [A] sweet love story about two people who find each other and don't miss the opportunity to turn a chance encounter into a happily ever after.”—NPR.org

“The lightness and ease of a lesbian romance that does not upend any trauma is a refreshing, upbeat relief. Plus, the romantic pursuit is replete with luscious descriptions of the cosmopolitan outings of rich New Yorkers, hot lesbian sex, and the neighborhood lesbian bar where it all takes place. When Katie Met Cassidy resonates—and not just for queers. Its pursue-or-be-pursued tension will have you reading until the happy ever after.” Broadly

“If you’re trying to get over an ex, read this instead of compulsively checking your iPhone.”—Marie Claire

"Compelling."—Us Weekly

“Katie and Cassidy are a joy to behold: two whip-smart women grappling with desire and questioning their deeply held notions of love and intimacy. Perri’s book is a real gift—tender, sexy as hell and laugh out loud funny.”—Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney, New York Times bestselling author of The Nest

“This smart, funny novel fills a space in the romantic comedy genre by giving readers something missing in the genre: a celebration of queerness, in all its dynamic glory.”—Nylon

“Perri, whose debut, The Assistants, was a rollicking ode to the pleasures of punching up, is back with a novel about a woman whose rebound with another woman after a breakup may be more than a rebound after all. For fans of: pop culture references, hot lesbian sex scenes, bar fights.”—Out Magazine

“If you thought Perri was at her best in The Assistants, get ready for a totally new side of her seemingly limitless talent… A pitch-perfect nod to Nora Ephron’s classic… Both a lighthearted romance and a deeply nuanced exploration of identity, When Katie Met Cassidy truly has it all.”—Book Reporter

“Snarky but tender, charming but never saccharine, When Katie Met Cassidy is a romantic comedy for a new breed of women who can deliver valentines and a mean left hook.”—Courtney Maum, author of Touch and I Am Having So Much Fun Here Without You

“Perri deftly handles the topics of sexuality and identity, imbuing her story with honesty and heart so that the attraction between Katie and Cassidy unfolds in a believable, and utterly romantic, way. When Katie Met Cassidy defies labels and boundaries and reinforces the idea that love is love, and true love is always worth fighting for.”Washington Independent Review of Books

“Smart and fun.” Bustle

“Sparks soon fly... in this woman-powered rom-com.”—amNewYork

“The queer romance we deserve... Instead of a warning about what could happen if you are gay, this is a celebration of what awaits you if you are. Reading When Katie Met Cassidy felt like closing a wound left open by other queer/same-sex romances that came before it... Heartwarming, funny, [and] an important book.”—Autostraddle

“A fun, fast, sexy read, but it’s also so much more—a moving story about love and identity and what it means to truly connect with someone, even if it’s the last person you expect.”—Jennifer Niven, author of All the Bright Places

“Fun and fulfilling... A romance with a big heart and refreshing perspective.”—Kirkus Reviews

“This unconventional love story will keep you believing in love this summer.”Brit + Co
