The Argo Bookstore, the oldest independent English-language bookstore in the city of Montreal, has been located in Shaughnessy Village since 1966. We are proud to offer a variety of carefully selected English-language books, ranging from literary to fantasy novels, from poetry to philosophy, and science to biography. We also offer a range of books for children and young adults. We are particularly interested in books on Japan and linguistics, as well as books on marginalized communities and by marginalized writers, including books dealing with racial, gender, and queer issues. We strive to serve all members of our dynamic and multicultural community, and we will be happy to take your special orders. We are also pleased to host regular events regularly, including author visits, book clubs, lectures, and reading sessions.
