The Archer is the story of a young Indian woman who longs to be a classical dancer — to feel that rhythm, to have that as her life focus — yet is continually buffeted by her choices and those made for her.Becky Milner
Bowling's descriptions are so incredibly inviting that once the story began I couldn't help but be completely immersed in the story and Aven's life. While the previous book was about a new life and secrets coming to the surface (and many other things) this one was about starting high school, making new friends and getting crushes on boys. This book, as well as the first, has incredibly deep material in it, but Aven's voice is so great that it lightens the mood and more difficult aspects of what she's experiencing. The narration of the audio was on point as well. I'm pretty certain I'll read anything Bowling puts out. I'm a HUGE fan of her writing!Candace
My favorite part of this was the narration and the quirks of the hilarious characters! Despite not having read any of the previous books I was able to follow the story well. It was a wild and FUN ride and I look forward to going to the beginning to listen to the previous books in this series.Candace
I listened to this while on a road trip so it was all in one go. My 13 year old daughter absolutely loved it! I enjoyed it a lot as well and LaCour and Levithan compliment each other well with their styles and characters. As always their characters really stood out and had very strong personalities.Candace
I listened to this book for the inspiration and just raising my energy. Some days it can be harder to really find that badass inside of us and this just helps to remind us. I enjoyed it a lot, though it's not a lot of depth and is very short, but it provided me what I was looking for.Candace
I love Sarah Dessen books for my summer reads (or in winter when I'm craving summer again) so I found this to be the perfect summer read. In fact, it would be perfect for the beach! As always she delivered an entertaining read that has plenty of depth as well. In this one we have Emma who is introduced to her 'other' family for the first time since a small child. She spends part of the summer at this lake and getting to know her family history a bit. The narration was done well and fit the 'voice' of the characters quite well. It's been awhile since I'd read a Dessen book and this reminded me of how much I DO enjoy her!Candace
