Summary

Faced with an empty nest, stagnant jobs, and an economy in freefall, Kim Brown Seely and her husband decided to embark on a grand adventure. On an impulse, they purchased a sailboat, learned to sail, and set off toward untamed wilderness in search of the elusive blonde Kermode bear that only lives in a secluded forest in the Pacific Northwest. 

Out on the open water, the couple faces physical challenges brought on by weather, geography, and inexperience. They also grapple with the mixed emotions of parents who, now untethered from their former life, must envision a new future for themselves. 

The author’s own lyrical voice shines through in this audio edition of her award-winning memoir, bringing us aboard the Heron to share in her voyage of discovery.
