Owen Wister (July 14, 1860 - July 21, 1938) was an American writer and historian, considered the "father" of western fiction. He is best remembered for writing a biography of Ulysses S. Grant and the novel The Virginian, in which Wister created the archetypal cowboy.

A recovering trial attorney, David Griffin now spends his time writing gothic short stories, listening to podcasts, and narrating audiobooks. A graduate of The Ohio State University, Griffin regales his 3 children with tales of courtroom drama, pious judges, whiny lawyers, and of course, a menagerie of colorful defendents.
