Summary

"El rayo que no cesa" is a collection of poems published by Miguel Hernández in 1936, months before the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. The subject matter of most of his poems is amorous and tragic, with a passionate tone, because love hurts the poet who, nevertheless, clings to that feeling looking to understand both the existence and his own place in the world. The love reflected in Miguel Hernández's verses is a romantic love, but there is also room for friendship, another nature of love, as in the moving elegy he dedicates to his friend and maestro Ramón Sijé.

In "El rayo que no cesa", Miguel Hernández finds a simple language and plays with classical forms, seeking his own path towards a popular poetry. From this point of view, it is a work of capital importance in the Spanish language poetry of the 20th century.
