Todo musulmán, al igual que todo estudiante del Islam, está al corriente del hecho de que el Quran es un constante testimonio de la absoluta unidad de Dios. Este principio básico encuentra su expresión más esencial en el capítulo (sura) numero 112, en el que se puede leer, "Dí: Él, Dios, es uno. Dios es de quien todo depende. Él no engendra, ni tampoco ha sido engendrado, y no existe nada que se Le asemeje".
