A delightful selection of entertaining poems, short essays, and written conversations involving the people of 20th century rural Australia and some of their working animals.

This collection includes “When Dad Drives Home From Town,” “When the Sailor Rode the Brumby,” “The Old Barn School,” and many more.

Elias Solomon Sorenson (E. S. Sorenson) (1869–1939) was a Danish-born Australian author, poet, and journalist known for his clear depictions of the Australian outback and rural life. Immigrating as a child to Australia, he grew up to appreciate the country’s landscapes, people, and cultures. His works often focused on bush life, people, and the natural environment. Sorenson’s writing included short stories, children’s books, and contributions to newspapers and magazines. He celebrated the rugged beauty of early 20th-century Australian life and spirit.

Gregory Dwyer is a New Zealand–born Australian voice actor. He spent twenty-four years working internationally in theatre, film, television, and radio before a hiatus of twenty-two years, much of which was spent as a Forensic Crime Scene Examiner. Now, he has returned to performing as a voice actor, specializing in audiobooks.
