Learn moreBlackwood’s writing covers many aspects of the Supernatural, including Nature Gods and Goddesses in “The Touch of Pan” and “Initiation,” psychological horror in “The Occupant of the Room” star-crossed lovers in “The Tryst” and “A Desert Episode,” and a truly wholesome story involving a young lad and his ghostly grandfather in “The Other Wing.” This collection of eerie short stories also includes “The Wings of Horus,” “Cain’s Atonement,” “An Egyptian Hornet,” “By Water,” “H.S.H.,” “A Bit of Wood,” “A Victim of Higher Space,” “Transition,” and “The Tradition.”
Algernon Blackwood (1869–1951) led a rich and varied life. Storyteller, mystic, adventurer, and radio and television personality, he is best remembered for his two superlative horror stories, “The Willows” and “The Wendigo.” But in his lifetime he wrote over 150 stories, at least a dozen novels, two plays, and quite a few children’s books as well. By the time of his death, he had become one of the greatest writers of supernatural fiction in the twentieth century.
