“Ooof, this was a wild ride. Just when you think you know what's going on, there's another layer, another lie, deception, story, to be revealed. Set in Louisville, KY, Gabe has several properties he renovates and rents out. But when he rents out 8160 Shadow Drive to an older woman desperate to have the house, he unknowingly gives her the keys, only to have his whole life and everything he knew from the past two years completely turned on its head. This is a fast-paced, twisty thriller with just more and more to uncover until the very end.”
— Giovanni • The Bookloft
In this thrilling debut from award-winning filmmaker Nolan Cubero, a young father must investigate his mysterious new tenant and discover what secrets she’s hiding—while trying to keep his own.
Landlord Gabriel Angueira is trying to put his life back together. His teenage daughter, Megan, was seriously injured in a car accident caused by her own drunk driving, though Gabe blames himself. Since the accident he has spent every day taking care of her, reflecting on his failures as a father, and trying to rebuild his relationship with his ex-wife, Anya.
So, when a woman wants to rent the house on Shadow Drive, Gabe hands her the keys without a second thought—or doing a background check. Once she moves in, he discovers everything she told him was a lie: her name, her story, her previous address. Gabe knows nothing about this mysterious woman, but she knows a lot about him—and quickly begins destroying the house from the inside out. Gabe soon realizes she’s specifically targeted him and the house on Shadow Drive but has no idea why.
Now Gabe must figure out who this woman is before she unearths his family’s secrets and takes down the house—along with his entire life as he knows it.

Reviews
“Cubero’s Shadow Drive is an exciting new twist on domestic suspense. A heart-pounding, cold sweat of a novel. Read it.”
“Promises to echo Andre Dubus III’s House of Sand and Fog in its portrayal of a man being destroyed by the home he loves—and a fraudulent tenant.”
“What starts out as a panic-inducing Pacific Heights—tenants refusing to leave—turns swiftly into something far more sinister. With twists galore, the story of a father grappling with his teenage daughter’s traumatic injury spins out into a terrifying odyssey as he uncovers the truth about what really happened to her, betrayal and lies at every turn. Playing on every parent’s fears, Shadow Drive examines just how little we know about our teenagers’ lives and how dangerous that lack of knowledge can be. Riveting, disturbing, and whiplash-inducing, this twisty thriller had me from page one.”
