Learn moreSchubert was known to improvise waltzes in real time and this is considered to be one of those creations. This is a great piece for an early intermediate student of the piano and is a good example of the left hand waltz bass pattern. A full demonstration of the song is given at the beginning of the lesson for the student to listen to and practice with. The entire song is taught completely โby earโ using no music, print, or video. This allows the student to learn the song quickly and to memorize the piece while they are learning it.
Bill Brown began teaching music when he was in middle school alongside his mother, who was a respected classical piano teacher (Piano Teacherโs Guild Hall of Fame Recipient). In the mid 1980s he started recording lessons for his students to take home to learn โby ear.โ He discovered that learning songs without any print or video helped his students develop their ability to pick out other songs โby earโ as well. The By Ear catalogue has rapidly expanded till now it includes over 1400 song lessons for more than a dozen instruments. Brown resides in South Georgia with his wife, also a music teacher, where he teaches and records lessons in his own private recording studio.
