Summary

Lautréamont est né à Montevideo (Uruguay) en 1846 et mort à Paris en 1870. On connaît peu de choses de sa vie, mais il apparaît que sa mère se serait suicidée l'année de la naissance de l'auteur. Celui-ci est envoyé à 13 ans au lycée impérial de Tarbes, où il est un élève discret, taciturne. Il publie en 1870 ses Chants de Maldoror, à compte d'auteur en Belgique. Il meurt cette même année, et le succès de ses poésies sera posthume. Mêlant romantisme et naturalisme, Les Chants de Maldoror inspireront grandement les surréalistes dont André Breton qui le tient pour un génie.
