Þeir fluttust báðir til Parísar á fullorðinsárum og kom Napóleon við sögu þeirra beggja. Serían fjallar um helstu tónsnillinga allt frá árunum 1525-1907. Hún er byggð á skrifum Theodórs Árnasonar sem var íslenskur tónlistarmaður. Fjallað er um líf tónskálda og verk þeirra. Bókin kom fyrst út árið 1966.
