Learn moreAustralia brings to mind images of the Great Barrier Reef, great white sharks, huge crocodiles, and friendly people. Zane Grey fished everywhere, but he often found himself lured back to the Pacific especially around Australia and New Zealand.
Most of the fish caught in An American Angler in Australia are sharks: great white, tiger, and even a few carpet sharks. But Zane Grey found that one canโt go big game fishing in Australia and not expect to be teased by marlins.
Zane Greyยฎ (1872โ1939), born in Ohio, was practicing dentistry in New York when he and his wife published his first novel. Grey presented the West as a moral battleground in which his characters are destroyed because of their inability to change or are redeemed through a final confrontation with their past. The man whose name is synonymous with Westerns made his first trip west in 1907 at age thirty-five. More than 130 films have been based on his work.
William Hope, an actor and Earphones Awardโwinning narrator, has had leading roles in many films, including Aliens as Gorman, Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Shining Through, and The Saint. His television credits include the Shell Seekers, As Time Goes By, and Gimme Gimme Gimme. On the London stage, he has appeared in The Seven Year Itch, The False Servant, and Doctor of Honour. He has appeared regionally in All My Sons, Twelfth Night, Way of the World, and La Ronde.
Reviews
โThis will appeal to anyone interested in details of deep sea fishing. Same sort of experiences, with more of the setting off the coast of Australia, with less of the detailed deep sea battles, but with a good deal about tackle, bait, and so on.โ
