A road trip reunites two broken sisters—and plunges them into the heart of danger.
When Layla Shawn, a struggling artist, learns that her estranged father, career-criminal Vic Doloro, has died, she decides to go to his wake. There, she reconnects with Vic’s other daughter, Bette, whom Layla barely knows.
Layla dreads returning home, where she has been receiving anonymous threats related to her mother’s unsolved murder. When she learns that Bette is planning a cross-country road trip, Layla decides to go along. The plan is to pick up some learning aids for Bette’s son, who has Down syndrome.
During the trip, the two sisters grow closer, but Layla learns that Bette is battling terminal illness. Bette also reveals the true purpose of the journey: to retrieve two million dollars that belonged to their father. To make matters worse, the sisters are being followed by two men who know about the money.
As Bette lies dying, Layla promises to finish the trip and take the two million home to Bette’s son. Now on a solo journey, Layla must battle her own demons as she faces a man bent on ending her life—the same way he killed her mother.
