The Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Church Choir of Cleveland (renamed Exultate), Ohio crowns the beginning of its I0th year of musical activity with the release of its first recording. Formed in the fall of 1982 for the purpose of singing during the services of major religious and national holidays at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, it is made up of 27 choristers of Lithuanian descent.
Over the course of 10 years, in addition to its standing commitment at OLPH Church, the choristers have accepted numerous invitations to perform sacred and folk music. Some highlights of such engagements include performing in Rome (Italy), Chicago, Rochester and Cleveland during the commemoration of the 600th anniversary of Christianity in Lithuania (1987), singing at the McMillan Theatre of the University of Toronto during the Fourth Lithuanian Cultural Congress (June 1988), performing numerous times with the Lithuanian Folk Dance Ensemble "Grandinėlė", and participating in the Seventh Lithuanian Song Festival (Chicago, May 1991.)
With the release of this recording, the OLPH choir renders to its listeners a sampling of its Christmas repertoire. We hope that the echo of these hymns will resound in your homes throughout the Christmas season, and that the common language of music will bring all peoples of the world closer together in peace and harmony.
