A small piece of jasper rock is rolled and tumbled in a mountain stream until it becomes a smooth, beautiful marble. Jasperโs adventure continues when he is caught in a marble trap and is captured and trained by a young boy.
Marty Smedes is a retired school teacher. She and her husband Harry live in the mountains near Grants Pass, Oregon. After raising a family, Marty enrolled in Southern Oregon University where she completed her studies in three years and received her Bachelorโs degree in Education with specialization in early childhood education. Her first book โFanny the Fanciful Frogโ was written while she was teaching first and second graders. It is a coloring book and a complete story. Her ideas for stories about Jasper were conceived as a result of field trips and discussions with her husband, who is a geology professor. Marty reads and tells stories to children in Grants Pass schools, Day Care Centers, and a bookstore, meanwhile working on a dozen more childrenโs stories. Craig Honeycutt is a freelance artist and illustrator who lives and teaches in Ashland, Oregon. He received his undergraduate degree from Southern Oregon State College (now University) and his Master of Science degree from the University of Oregon.
