Robert Newton works as a firefighter with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. His first novel, My Name is Will Thompson, was published in 2001. Since then he has written seven other novels for young people, including Runner, The Black Dog Gang (shortlisted for the NSW Premier's Literary Awards) and When We Were Two (winner of a Prime Minister's Literary Award for Young Adult Fiction). He lives on the Mornington Peninsula with his wife and three daughters.

One of Australia's most accomplished, respected and versatile performers, Simon Burke's career has been in overdrive since the age of 13 when he starred in Fred Schepisi's acclaimed feature film The Devil's Playground, for which he won the AFI Award for Best Actor. Since then he has enjoyed great success both in Australia and the UK in film, television, stage, concert appearances and cabaret.

Captain Von Trapp in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sound of Music (London Palladium), Georges in La Cage Aux Folles (Playhouse Theatre, London), Carl-Magnus opposite Dame Judi Dench in A Little Night Music (Royal National Theatre, London), Raoul in Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty's Theatre, London).

Australian audiences will remember Simon as Marius in the original Australian cast of Les Miserables as well as in countless productions for Sydney Theatre Company. Simon's many television credits include Hustle, Rescue: Special Ops, The Alice, All Saints, Small Claims III, South Pacific, Brides of Christ, Water Rats, After the Deluge, Grass Roots. Simon is extremely proud of his 25-year stint as one of the most popular presenters on ABC TV's Play School.
