Pete's teacher seems ready to swallow any excuse. But surely even he won't fall for the tale about a stranded spacecraft and an alien who floats? Or will he?

Allan Baillie was born in Scotland in 1943 and came to Victoria, Australia with his family when he was six. Allan began writing stories for fun while still at school. He is now one of Australia's most successful writers for children. His novels, which include Little Brother, The China Coin, Saving Abbie, and Treasure Hunters, have won him acclaim, awards and international recognition.

Stig Wemyss is Australiaโ€™s most loved audiobook narrator for children and young adults. He has lent his voice to the work of some of Australiaโ€™s most accomplished authors, including Andy Griffiths, Paul Jennings, Tim Winton, Marcus Zusak, Margaret Clarke and, most recently, Andrew Daddo. For the last three years he has been the recipient of the ABIA audiobook of the year award, including for the Trent Dalton's widely acclaimed debut novel Boy Swallows Universe. Stig has also written his own successful audiobook series entitled, The Tripp Diaries, which he narrates himself. His success and popularity have led him to develop a one-man comedy show for kids, Stig Live @ The Library, which he has performed in schools and libraries around Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Reviews

"Pete's teacher, Mr Scarsdale, falls for the lamest student excuses. So there's a bet on about how tall a tale he'll swallow, and Pete pushes it to the limit with his excuse for tardiness featuring a stranded spacecraft and an alien. Stig Wemyss is an engaging and funny narrator whose voice, with its irresistible Australian accent, will prompt children to imitate him long after the story is over." Expand reviews
