In 1936, Daryl Tonkin and his brother, Harry, leave home in search of adventure. They find themselves in West Gippsland, Victoria, and set up a timber mill at Jackson's Track - a dreamtime place, a place that was paradise. A bushman dedicated to his work, Daryl discovers happiness there - and unexpectedly falls in love. But Daryl is white and Euphie is black, and neither of them is prepared for the conflict their forbidden love ignites. This spellbinding memoir recaptures a community and a way of life now vanished from sight.

From the age of 13, Daryl Tonkin and his older brother Harry worked as stockmen and horse breakers, before settling in the great forests of West Gippsland where they established a timber business. Except for a short stint in Toora, Daryl lived and worked at the original property at Jackson's Track until his death in 2008.

Carolyn Landon is the co-author, with Daryl Tonkin, of Jackson's Track: Memoir of a Dreamtime Place. She was born in the USA where she received a BA in Literature and Philosophy. She came to Australia in 1968 as a traveller, at one point hitchhiking by small aeroplane throughout the far north, where she stayed five weeks at Elcho Island Mission Station. She and her husband, Larry Hills, have written and published several musical plays.

Peter Hosking is an actor with 40 years of stage, film and television experience and has narrated over 160 audiobooks. He toured Australia with the stage show Certified Male, appeared on television in Blue Heelers and on-screen in Pride, Siam Sunset, The Wogboy and Razor Eaters. Now living in Europe, he has toured with stage shows within Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the USA and Egypt as well as filming in the Czech Republic, Denmark, the Canary Islands and Poland. He continues to record for Bolinda from his base in Prague.
