Learn moreDo you know what it takes to run a farm? Gail Gibbons uses her signature combination of clear and informative wording, with plenty of illustrations to explore life on a farm throughout the year. Kids will see the work required to take care of various kinds of animals, as well as indoor chores necessary to maintain the farm. Showing how activities change from one season to the next, Gibbons explains how farmers deal with weather and use machines to grow crops which become our food.
Gail Gibbons grew up writing stories and drawing pictures to fit the words, and wishing she lived in the country. After graduating from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of fine arts degree, she became involved in television graphics. Eventually Gail became a full-time writer and moved to rural Vermont, where she could have a garden and as many pets as she wanted. Winner of the 2010 Regina Medal, Gail has written & illustrated more than 140 books. Gail and her husband, Kent Ancliffe, have a dog named Wilbur and two cats, named Miles and Davis. They live in Corinth, Vermont in a passive solar house that Gail's husband built and on an island off the coast of Maine.
