A Blessing presents a fresh, bold analysis of African American female leadership. An unapologetic look at our often-overlooked role in America's social, political, psychological and economic history, it is armed with data that should be empowering for today's "unicorns."

The book offers a "playbook" to help Black unicorns "team up" and find innovative ways to support one another as they climb, what research shows, are lonely, stressful, jagged yet ultimately rewarding ladders of opportunity.

Jacqueline Adams launched a second career as a communications strategist after more than two decades as an Emmy Award-winning CBS News correspondent. Ms. Adams covered the groundbreaking campaigns of Jesse Jackson for president and Geraldine Ferraro for vice president before spending five years as a White House correspondent during the Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush administrations. In the 1990s, she was a prolific contributor to CBS Evening News with Dan Rather and CBS News Sunday Morning. She won a News and Documentary Emmy Award for the 48 Hours broadcast, The Search for Matthew. Adams, a graduate of Harvard Business School, serves on the Board of Directors of the Harvard Business School Club of New York and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. A music aficionado, she is studying the classical composers at the Juilliard School of Music's Evening Division.

Bonita C. Stewart joined Google in 2006, and her career spans three decades leading multi-billion-dollar operations, accelerating digital technology adoption and driving business transformation for major corporations in the IT, automotive, and technology fields. Currently, as VP, Global Partnerships, she oversees the largest US publishers across media/entertainment, news/publishing, mobile apps, search, and commerce. Widely hailed for her astute leadership, in 2014 Crain's named her a Woman to Watch in Tech. Stewart also pioneered the concept for Howard West, a computer science immersion program for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), powered by Google. Stewart, a graduate of Howard University and Harvard Business School, serves on the Board of Deckers and Pluralsight. She resides in New Jersey with her husband, Kevin Stewart.

Janina Edwards, a graduate of New York University's Tisch Schools of the Arts, recorded her first audiobook in 1987. She was born in Chicago, soaked in New York City's African and West Indian accents for 11 years, and for the past twenty years has swum in the swagger of the south (Atlanta, Georgia). As a result, she excels in portraying authentic characters and voices the African Diaspora. Her 2018 audiobook, The Wedding Date, is an AudioFile Earphones Award winner, and Voice of Freedom (2016, Dreamscape) was an Audie Award finalist. In addition to narrating audiobooks, she is a certified yoga teacher, sings kirtan, and plays the violin.
