At the age of seventeen, Devi Mukherjee worked in the Indian resistance movement with Gandhi. After being jailed for over five months and then receiving his college degree, Devi began a spiritual quest, and his travels took him across India.

From 1955 until 1966, Devi was part of Yogoda Satsanga Society, Self-Realization Fellowship¹s sister organization in India. It was during this period that Devi formed a life-long friendship with Swami Kriyananda, a direct disciple of Yogananda and founder of Ananda World Brotherhood Village in northern California.
Dr. Aditya Gait is a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda. His quest for meaning as a young aspiring doctor led him to the Autobiography of a Yogi in 2006 and subsequently to Swami Kriyananda in 2008. He joined Ananda Sangha as a monk dedicating his life as a yoga and meditation teacher sharing the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. In the years that followed, he met Devi Mukherjee's wife, Hassi-ji, and their son Manash Mukherjee, feeling a deep friendship with the family. Shaped by Saints is a deeply inspiring book that is very close to his heart and it was a deep blessing for him to help in bringing forth the audio version of the book, through the blessings of his Guru Paramhansa Yogananda and the many blessed saints we are blessed to meet through Deviji's adventures.
