A Year of Broken Promises continues the story of James and Mary McGrother, a young Irish fisherman and his wife, who were the main characters in A Pocket Full of Shells.

Even with the famine years behind them, tragedy and hardship does not stop. Promises made in good faith are broken, along with the hearts of those making them. A solicitor, a constable, and a secretive organization all play a part in determining the fate of a young couple whose only desire is to provide for their family and live a simple life.

Jean Reinhardt lives in a seaside town in Cork, Ireland. In addition to the Irish Family Saga, she is the author of the Finding Trilogy, a young adult suspense series.

Michael Healy trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and has appeared off-Broadway and off-off Broadway in many productions. He worked on Saturday Night Live for three years and has appeared in several national television commercials. In New York he has worked on stage with Harold Prince, Tatum O'Neal, and William Hickey, and in Rhode Island he has worked extensively with the Gamm Theatre, the Rhode Island Center for the Performing Arts, the Courthouse Center for the Arts, and the Firehouse Theater. He won an award for acting in 2007.
