Uncle Wiggily has been a reassuring friend to millions of children since early in the twentieth century. He is a cheerful “bunny rabbit gentleman” who understands people-talk and has dedicated his life to helping animals and children with his wonderful knack for setting things right. Uncle Wiggily’s amusing stories speak to readers about familiar experiences and feature a lively cast of characters including Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, Uncle Wiggily’s loyal muskrat housekeeper, and Sammie and Suzie Littletail, among many others. Uncle Wiggily stories are full of charm, warmth, and old-fashioned fun.

Howard Roger Garis (1873–1962) was an American author best known for a series of books featuring the character Uncle Wiggily Longears, an engaging elderly rabbit. Garis and his wife, Lilian, were possibly the most prolific children’s authors of the early twentieth century. Garis was born in Binghamton, New York, and worked as a reporter for the Newark Evening News.

Jim Hodges began reading aloud in the second grade with a stirring rendition of Dick and Jane. He continued to volunteer to speak throughout his schooling years, performed as a newscaster while in the Navy, and participated in community theater groups. His wife, Monica, once asked what his dream job would be. He answered, “I’d record books.” And so began Jim Hodges Audio Books, producing unabridged recordings of the G. A. Henty historical novels, children’s books, Overtly Christian titles, and classic literature.
