Chaos reigns after an electromagnetic pulse attack destroys the country’s power grid and sends the United States back to the Dark Ages. The hit leaves fifteen-year-old Dee stranded on a farm in rural Washington, where basic survival is the top priority. But without the essentials—electricity, clean water, even her cell phone—does Dee have a chance?

As disease and lawlessness run rampant in the nearby town, everything Dee holds dear is threatened by a corrupt official who steps into power. With handsome, troubled Mason at her side, Dee will have to fight if she wants to survive and save her home in this hostile new world.

Written for all fans of apocalypse stories, Outage is a young adult novel of survival with a hint of romance and brimming with action-adventure.

Revised edition: This edition of Outage includes editorial revisions.

Ellisa Barr grew up in a small town in Idaho, even smaller than the fictitious town of Lookout Falls. In the summer, almost entirely cut off from friends and other entertainment, she became a voracious reader. When she misbehaved as a tween, her parents despaired of finding a suitable punishment, because the only thing she wanted to do was read. Finally, they resorted to grounding her from books. Her friends thought she had the best parents ever. Ellisa agrees.

She lives with her husband, two children, a dog, and a cat in Southern California, where she homeschools her kids and knows just enough about prepping to prolong her agony in the event of the apocalypse.

“There was survivalist training, an element of suspense, some heartbreak, and some romance.  The author did an amazing job pulling me in and holding my attention until the last exciting, amazing moment.” —Shannon, thetaletemptress.com
