Pressed into service by SS Kommandant Colonel Aric von Schmidt at the transit camp of Theresienstadt in Czechoslovakia, she is able to hide behind the false identity of Stella Muller. However, in order to survive and maintain her cover as Aric's secretary, she is forced to stand by as her own people are sent to Auschwitz.
Suspecting that her employer is a man of hidden depths and sympathies, Stella cautiously appeals to him on behalf of those in the camp. Aric's compassion gives her hope, and she finds herself battling a growing attraction for this man she knows she should despise as an enemy.

A Florida girl and former bookseller, Kate Breslin migrated to the Pacific Northwest, where she lives with her guitarist husband and a persnickety cat. An award-winning poet and the author of several travel articles, Kate received Christian Retailing's 2015 Best Award for first-time author, and her debut novel, For Such a Time, is a Christy, RITA, and Carol Award finalist.
Emily Durante has been acting since the age of seven, performing in a number of stage plays professionally, in the community, and at the college level. Other performance credits include commercial and industrial voice work, educational live theater, and singing telegrams. She has been narrating audiobooks for over ten years.
