Learn moreMourning your best friend is no time to fall in love with a stranger.
When Abbey’s best friend, Kristen, vanishes at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, everyone else is all too quick to accept that Kristen is dead, and rumors fly that her death was no accident. Abbey goes through the motions of mourning her best friend, but privately, she refuses to believe that Kristen is really gone. Then she meets Caspian, the gorgeous and mysterious boy who shows up out of nowhere at Kristen’s funeral, and who keeps reappearing in Abbey’s life. Caspian clearly has secrets of his own, but he’s the only person who makes Abbey feel normal again—but also special.
Just when Abbey starts to feel that she might survive all this, she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her best friend. How could Kristen have kept silent about so much? And could this secret have led to her death? As Abbey struggles to understand Kristen’s betrayal, she uncovers a frightening truth that nearly unravels her, one that will challenge her emerging love for Caspian, as well as her own sanity.

Reviews
“Spectacular! The Hollow keeps you reading from beginning to end without coming up for air.”
“Cassandra Campbell convincingly portrays Abbey’s confusion and depression as she clings to the hope that Kristen is not actually dead…Set in a town with a legendary haunted past, the story’s overall tone is suitably eerie, and it ends with a surprising twist. Paranormal romance fans will be clamoring for Book two.”
“Verday’s paranormal romance has an intriguing premise…that will easily attract a teen female readership…With a cliffhanger ending and impending sequel this novel will find many fans.”
“This inventive tale from a first-time author cleverly interweaves elements of Washington Irving’s famous The Legend of Sleepy Hollow not only in the setting, but also in the characters…Readers, particularly fans of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight and other supernatural romances, will clamor for the second novel in this trilogy.”
“Verday weaves in Irving’s Legend throughout Abbey’s first-person story making it magical and suspenseful. Cassandra Campbell’s narration perfectly matches Verday’s expressions and storytelling to further draw listeners into this paranormal romance. Each character is fully voiced both by personality and emotionally, with Abbey’s deep and growing grief over the loss of her friend being appropriately the most clearly and poignantly expressed.”
“The Hollow…is a phenomenal read that will leave you itching to read the sequel!…Jessica Verday is my favorite breakout author of 2009!”
