In Why We Remain Jews, Dr. Vladimir Tsesis describes the path he traversed from religious ignorance to strong belief in the Jewish religion. Tsesis assigns a special place to the proof of his conclusion that religion and science—especially in light of recent discoveries—are not antagonists but are in fact in complete harmony, supplementing and not excluding each other. In the spirit of ecumenism, Tsesis speaks about coexistence of different religions, which share the common objective of assurance of perpetual survival of the human race. The unifying theme of this book, however, is the beauty of the Jewish religion and a possible answer to the question of why we remain Jews.

Vladimir Tsesis grew up in the former Soviet Union and practiced general pediatrics there for ten years before emigrating to the United States in 1974. After completing his residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center of Chicago, he resumed his private practice in Illinois. Dr. Tsesis created a unique patient-pleasing office concept, and is the author of several articles published in pediatric magazines. Today he is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Robert Scott has performed in theater and television for over forty years, and to date has recorded seventy-five audiobooks. He is currently enjoying a life of semiretirement, along with his dogs, Pepper and Doc. He is a native of Ohio.

Reviews

“I read it with delight.”

“A welcome and warmhearted book that provides both inspiration and amusement.”

Why We Remain Jews: The Path To Faith is a valuable and wise reflection of Jewish history.”

“The material in the book is an interesting journey. This is an example of a scientist accepting that the complexity of life is real and that the likelihood of this complexity arising by chance is scientifically unlikely.”

“The writer reminds us of the uniqueness and irreplaceability of every separate individual, each endowed with a unique personality.”

“Vladimir Tsesis masterfully presents unforgettable episodes of his life. He is enlightening—because he is not a dispassionate observer. He does not provide a direct judgment of the particular situation, but the reader definitely feels it.”
