Reviews
āHis quick jabs to the funny bone and the intellect often are more powerful than many a lesser artistās attempt at a knockout punch.ā
āBissonās prose is a wonder of seemingly effortless control and precision; he is one of science fictionās most promising short-story practitioners.ā
āIn this darkly comedic audio collection of futuristic stories, a dynamic trio of narrators brings diverse skills. The outlandish tales are written in an unnervingly realistic fashion, and the narrators provide an enticing combination of wit, verisimilitude, and empathy. Stefan Rudnickiās somber rolling bass nicely offsets Kristoffer Taboriās raspy charm, which works to great effect in their collaboration on āTheyāre Made Out of Meat.ā Janis Ianās robust tones and subtle delivery make her an excellent match for sinister and earnest characters alike, and she particularly shines in āPress Ann,ā especially as the sentient ATM. Alternating narrators from story to story helps to separate worlds, while frank tones and attention to detail keep listeners anchored to the bizarre and disturbing events.ā
āThese nineteen stories showcase the varied talents of a skilled and as yet unjaded writer.ā
āBrilliantly originalā¦Every story showcases Bissonās keen intelligence and distinctive gift for deliciously wry proseā¦Highly recommendable.ā
āBissonās distinctive style and priceless imagination lift his work to an altogether more exalted plane.ā
