In California, two children die of a disease thought to be nonexistent in the United States. Hours later, thoroughbreds at the Churchill Downs are dying of an unidentified virus. Called in to shed light on these enigmas, virologist Jack Bryne discovers that the two events are not only connected, they are deliberate acts of bioterrorism. Moreover, the deaths bear uncanny similarities to the Fifth and Sixth Plagues described in Exodus.

Every month sees the reenactment of another, even more catastrophic plague—the work of a morbidly brilliant serial killer with a dangerous knowledge of toxins and an obsession with biblical retribution. When the killer invades Bryne’s worldwide medical computer network, Bryne himself is suspected by the FBI. Joining forces with his brilliant lab assistant, a television newswoman, and a young Jewish religious scholar, Byrne must track down the maniac and stop him in time.

John S. Marr, MD, author of The Eleventh Plague, served as director and principal epidemiologist for the New York City Department of Health. He is the coauthor of The Black Death and is the author of three books for children on public health concerns, drugs, smoking, and proper nutrition. Marr is also author of more than fifty medical journal articles and is a frequent op-ed contributor to the Medical Herald. He lives in Connecticut with his wife, daughter, three Jack Russell terriers, and a mutt rescued from a pit bull encounter.

John Baldwin, a relative of Conway Whittle, is a magazine writer, lecturer, and the author of two novels. At seventeen, Baldwin was apprenticed to the ship’s carpenter on a merchant vessel sailing the ports of Africa.

Adams Morgan is a theater-trained actor who has appeared in venues around the United States. He has also narrated for National Public Radio and performed radio dramas and historical reenactments. He lives in New York City.
