An Eagle Security armored truck carrying sixteen million dollars worth of diamonds and three million in cash disappears in Washington, DC. Days later, the harpoon-impaled body of one of the guards floats to the banks of the Potomac River.

Six months later, with the case gone cold, ex-Virginia cop-turned-private investigator Beauford Sloan leaves the serenity of his Blue Ridge Mountain ranch and takes the case, at the request of the dead guard's mother. The cunning detective sniffs out evidence which leads him to Morocco and Spain, where he makes the shocking discovery of the mastermind behind the Eagle Heist.

Raymond Austin (The Baron DeVere-Austin of Delvin) began his career as a stunt man in Hollywood and quickly soared to fame as the director of England’s top television shows The Avengers and The Saint. He and the Baroness currently divide their time between their homes in Wiltshire, England, and Charlottesville, Virginia. The Eagle Heist is the first novel in his Beauford Sloan Mystery Series.

Raymond Todd is an actor and director in the theater as well as a poet and documentary filmmaker. He plays jazz trombone for the Leatherstocking quartet, an ensemble that gets its name from one of his favorite Blackstone narrations, The Deerslayer. Todd lives in New York.

Reviews

“Perhaps because he spent decades in the world of moving pictures, Austin knows how to create detailed characters, dialogue that is both memorable and realistic, and an exciting plot. An excellent debut and a real find.”

“An outstanding first thriller by screenwriter and television director Austin.”
