Learn moreSayers’ most renowned amateur detective, the engaging and amusing Lord Peter Wimsey, sets out to unravel a puzzling case involving the disappearance of a wealthy financier and the discovery of a nude corpse, wearing gold pince-nez, in a bathtub. He does succeed in solving things to everyone’s ultimate satisfaction, but only after a series of bloodcurdling and hair-raising episodes that will hold the listener spellbound with anticipation.
Long considered one of the top mystery authors, Dorothy L. Sayers has excelled herself in this delightfully macabre tale, a truly rare find for anyone interested in top-flight crime fiction.
Dorothy Leigh Sayers (1893 – 1957) was a renowned English crime writer best known for her mysteries featuring the aristocratic amateur sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey. The only child of an Oxford chaplain, she was one of the first women to receive a degree from that institution. A prolific writer of poems and plays as well as novels, she was a contemporary and friend of Agatha Christie, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.
Wanda McCaddon began recording books for the fledgling audiobook industry in the early 1980s and has since narrated well over six hundred titles for major audio publishers, as well as abridging, narrating, and coproducing classic titles for her own company, Big Ben. Audiobook listeners may be familiar with her voice under one of her two "nom de mikes," Donada Peters and Nadia May. The recipient of an Audie Award and more than twenty-five Earphones Awards, AudioFile magazine has named her one of recording's Golden Voices. Wanda also appears regularly on the professional stage in the San Francisco Bay Area.
