There are countless paths to follow when seeking spiritual guidance, but thousands of years of theology and religion cannot replace the premier example that Jesus himself set for us. In A Portrait of Jesus, bestselling writer Joseph Girzone recaptures the truth of Jesus that is presented to us in the Gospels and gives a compelling vision of the person Jesus’ contemporaries must have known.

Girzone seeks to personify Christ in the minds of readers by asking some simple questions: “What did people see in Jesus as He walked down the street? How did He approach others and what would these people take away from meeting Him? What do His actions tell us about how we can live our lives today?”

Girzone’s empowering and loving understanding of the heart of Christianity will make this another groundbreaking classic in the tradition of his other works, Joshua and Never Alone.

Joseph F. Girzone retired from the active priesthood in 1981 and went on to become a bestselling author and international speaker. In 1995 he established the Joshua Foundation, an organization dedicated to making Jesus better known throughout the world. He lives in Altamont, New York.

Raymond Todd is an actor and director in the theater as well as a poet and documentary filmmaker. He plays jazz trombone for the Leatherstocking quartet, an ensemble that gets its name from one of his favorite Blackstone narrations, The Deerslayer. Todd lives in New York.

“Girzone’s Jesus was a warm, personable, and understanding man who, with a nod and a wink to human foibles, succeeded in balancing the needs of humanity with the demands of divinity.”

“The Jesus [Girzone] describes is one that is very human and compassionate. Indeed, He is someone most anyone would want to know…Raymond Todd’s narration brings out this winsome Jesus quite well. His voice is warm and soft, without being soporific.”

“Will appeal to readers who want a devotional approach to Jesus’ life.”

“Girzone draws on the wisdom of the centuries, writing with humanity and spirit.”
