There are all kinds of detectives. Some are tougher than others. But Frank O'Brien is a strange anomaly of toughness mingled with compassion, resulting from his unusual background. After twelve years in a Jesuit seminary, Frank left to pursue a career in the FBI. Now, teamed up with his wife Mary Teresa, a teacher at St. Joseph's School, he uses both his knowledge of the human soul and his experience in the crime lab to track criminals.

When a puzzling murder occurs in their hometown of Seattle and a related murder occurs in Baton Rouge, the husband and wife team go into action.

Richard Oโ€™Deaโ€™s ability to create characters of emotional depth stems from his own intellectual and religious experience. As a young man he taught classical Latin and Greek. He earned graduate degrees in medieval philosophy and theology and received his PhD in English from Louisiana State University. He spent thirty years living and working with the Jesuits in the Northwest and Louisiana. His descriptions of Seattle and New Orleans have a freshly detailed accuracy that comes from living in those areas. His portrait of his main character with all his conflicts and beliefs comes from living Oโ€™Deaโ€™s deep involvement with the Catholic faith.

Edward Lewis (a.k.a. David Hilder) is a stage, film, and television actor. He has narrated unabridged audiobooks for over eighteen years and has recorded more than two hundred titles, spanning works of fiction and nonfiction.

“Lewis…[narrates] with suitable quickening and slowing of pace, clear enunciation, and a great Louisiana accent.”
