The all-new anti-viral handwash, Gemini, has been laced with Meme-Spawn: a sentient micro-organism which makes the user fluent in every language in the universe. However, manufacturer Zalnex made one crucial mistake. They didn’t test Gemini on humans, who are seized by the violent urge to communicate but speak every language all at once – with a manic, garbled shriek – and pass on the virus by touch. The Doctor and Amy arrive on an Earth-bound cargo-ship loaded with Gemini, where a human crew are succumbing to the virus which has nasty second and third phases in store. When the Doctor and Amy are separated, they both know that it’s only a matter of time before Amy is infected. With the ship locked on course, and no way of curing the sufferers, the Doctor is faced with a terrible decision: does he save Amy, or Earth? Jason Arnopp is a novelist and scriptwriter, with a background in journalism for such titles as Heat, Q, Kerrang!, SFX and Doctor Who Magazine. He wrote the terrifying 2016 Orbit Books novel The Last Days Of Jack Sparks, acclaimed by the likes of Ron Howard, Sarah Lotz and Alan Moore. Arnopp’s previous works include official Doctor Who and Friday the 13th tie-in fiction, Beast in the Basement: A Sincere Warning About the Entity in Your Home and the non-fiction title How To Interview Doctor Who, Ozzy Osbourne and Everyone Else. Meera Syal, CBE, is one of our most acclaimed actors and writers of stage and screen. She starred in the hit series The Kumars at No. 42 and recently in the BBC film of David Walliams' The Boy in the Dress. She is currently in David Hare's play Behind the Beautiful Forevers at the National Theatre, and in the latest series of Broadchurch. Meera is also known for her funny, sharp and provocative fiction. Her two earlier novels are Anita and Me (a national curriculum set text) and Life Isn't all Ha Ha Hee Hee. The House of Hidden Mothers is her long-awaited third novel.
