A beguiling blend of hijinks, heartbreak and happiness
We love Marian for her humour, relatable style and wisdom - all of which are present here. A big-hearted read full of big feelings
A great read from this much-love author
Keyes is a powerhouse. My Favourite Mistake is
not just a fizzy romantic comedy, but also a piece of social commentary. Her protagonist’s voice is crystal cut with observations about gentrification, sexism and an economic system that tells women they are nothing without expensive serums and Peloton machines
Keyes’s prose whisks you through her tales — she has an instantly
endearing turn of phrase and an acute sense of comic timing
Unbelievable…so much talent
I raced through
My Favourite Mistake.
I was pulled in by the story, held by the authenticity of the characters and so seen by Marian’s portrayal of women in all their complex flaws. Her total lack of sentimentality and sharp humour sealed the deal.
How lucky we are to have Marian Keyes! This a fantastic book. Hugely entertaining, moving, hilarious and just so refreshingly honest on women in middle age. I adored it
My Favourite Mistake is
brilliant –
the characters are so brutally honest, vulnerable, funny and flawed. I loved it
Furiously funny and stealthily profound. There’s so much depth, but reading it made me feel happier and lighter than I have in ages – it’s sexy, smart, wise, touching and fun
Matching trauma with humour is Keyes’s trademark. She is so good at upping the tension in will they/won’t they scenarios, keeping the
characterisation rich and the jokes frequent. She somehow
keeps it both light and intensely important at the same time
Another classic read from Marian Keyes – we loved!
Sharp and funny
No one writes about messy, imperfect lives as well as Keyes
The biggest treat. I've laughed, I've blushed and I've cried. How does Marian do it? Just
a beautiful, hopeful story
A big-hearted read full of big feelings, humour, relatable style and life-affirming wisdom. We'd expect nothing less from this much-loved writer'
Classic Keyes: owl-wise, oven-warm and very funny. Fabulous
PRAISE FOR MARIAN KEYES
Delightfully funny
No other author marries heartbreak and hilarity so seamlessly
Funny, heartbreaking and so wise
Her particular gift is the ability to settle the reader into a comfortable seat, then carry them to the darkest places; to make serious things funny - and moving
Perfection
Sensitive, funny, wonderful, immensely touching
Keyes at her best: capturing everyday voices with humour and empathy with writing that you'll devour in a weekend. Just pure and simple joy
Magnificently messy lives, brilliantly untangled. Funny, tender and completely absorbing!
Warm, witty and wise - a joy to read
Much to love . . .
eye-wateringly comical. Will win something . . . long overdue in snootier literary quarters: respect
Wonderfully warm and funny look at midlife love
A gorgeous, gorgeous novel - devastating and hilarious in turn, warm and wise and full of surprises and welcome familiar faces.
Marian Keyes at her inimitable best
A great, big mystery romance that will make you laugh on every page. A marvel
You are all in for
a treat.
My Favourite Mistake is
by turns hilarious and heart-breaking, with a very satisfying mystery at the heart of it too
Explodes with joyful humanity on every page
A joyous read from start to finish
Funny, heart-breaking and wise. Adored it
A new Marian Keyes novel is always a special treat, especially when we are reunited with the Walsh family
Warmhearted and deftly plotted page-turner. A celebration of kindness: that of family and friends
Brims with all the author’s skill and laughout-loud humour
A new Marian Keyes book is always something to savour, especially when it features the Walshes. Hilarious, warm and very moving
No one does the minutiae of life like Keyes
What heaven . . . wish it could go on forever
Profoundly in touch with sadness and vulnerability. If there's a message, it's that we must forgive one another for past mistakes and be less brutal towards our lost, scatty younger selves
Funny and moving and very sexy
Funny, warm, pacy, honest and outrageous
Keyes at her best: the warmth, the laugh-out-loud humour, the compulsive readability, and the compassionate, feminist lens onto the interior lives of women and the pressures that society places upon them
