She quickly recognised there is an epidemic of unemployment and invisibility for all midlife women. Carol Russell is a screenwriter and founder of Fresh Voices UK which amplifies the work of ethnically diverse screenwriters to the television industry. Her work includes principal scriptwriter of Comin' Atcha Cleopatra; multi-award-winning, BAFTA-nominated drama series Soon Gone: A Windrush Chronicle, celebrating the 70th anniversary of The Windrush, which was broadcast on BBC Four in 2019. Carol also wrote two episodes for the 9th series of Danny Brocklehurst's Stone, broadcast on BBC Radio 4's 2021. She was one of the BAFTA-nominated team of adapters of Jacqueline Wilson's Story of Tracy Beaker. Carol is also Stephen Lawrence Foundation Trust award winner.
