Summary

1942. Determined to do her bit for the war effort, Yorkshire lass Evie Sinclair leaves her island home to become an Ack Ack Gunner Girl, defending Britain from Luftwaffe attacks. Evie embarks on a gruelling training programme with fellow recruits Lily and Gloria - and the three become firm friends. At a local dance, Evie meets handsome young RAF pilot, Matt, and the pair begin a passionate romance. Then tragedy strikes.
